Taking ownership of your life

How invested in yourself and your life would you say you are?
How much do you expect other people to do things for you?
Cook your meals? Look after your health? Remind you to do things? Tell you not to do other things? Pull you out of your gloom?

Is it fair to say that that at any moment in time you are either being passive or active, proactive or reactive?
Is it fair to say that at any moment in time you are either taking responsibility for yourself, or you are sleepwalking through life?

Wellness requires effort and motivation and ultimately responsibility. And if you don’t have it, then maybe finding it could be your first port of call.

Being able to stand on your own two feet means that you don’t have to rely so much on others. Being independent allows you get to shape so much more of your existence because you are in the driving seat. Being autonomous gives you greater freedom and empowerment.

If you would like an exercise in taking ownership of your life, how about this… The next time you listen to the news, question everything about it: What is being said, what is not being said, how it is being said. Come up with your own filter and develop your own interpretation of the news, rather than absorbing what someone else is saying wholesale.
