Constructivism

Constructivism believes that people are not passive, empty vessels ready to be topped up with information. Instead, each person actively constructs knowledge from what they already know, coupled with new experiences. Everything goes into the learning mix: conversations, communication, researching, etc.

Jean Piaget believed that we understand the world differently as our brain develops. Given that our brains aren’t mature until the age of twenty-five, it may be worth keeping in mind that children and young people can only access what their brains allow them to. When talking to younger people, many adults forget that young people don’t have the same capacity for thinking as themselves.
