A change for the better

See what you make of the following…

The holy grail of wellness is for us to change in some way, so that we can forever adapt to the changes that are happening around us; so that we can constantly improve the quality of our lives by twisting and turning, ducking and diving.

Carl Roger’s, the creator of person-centred therapy, said that given the right conditions there will be a change (for the better). Just as a plant moves their leaves to reach the rays of the sun, so do we, as humans, seek pleasure and avoid pain. We want the best for ourselves. We want to fulfil our potential.

When we don’t get the right conditions we come unstuck. When hostilities and hurdles lay in our way. When we are overwhelmed. When we develop a narrow or gloomy mindset. When fear overrides our natural urges and desires. When we suffer trauma and abuse.

This is where time and focus, awareness and attunement can all come in handy. This is where we can find doors that we didn’t know existed before. This is where we can find solutions to problems. This is where we can reach out for help – because we now have a sense of who we are, where we are, and what changes we need in order to move to a better place.

“Those who do not move do not notice their chains.”
Rosa Luxemburg
