Mottos and emblems

A motto is something that manages to sum up the beliefs, ideals or identity of a person in a few words or a sentence. It could be an original choice of words, it could be from a quote, or from a lyric of a song.

An emblem is an image or a symbol, often framed within a badge or a shield, that represents the values or identity of a person or a collection of people, while a motif is a design often using a repeated pattern. It can also contain a message or represent a theme.
