Somatic afterthought

For the past month we’ve looked at different aspects of how body and mind can come together for the benefit of the organismic self as a whole. And yet there is still so much to learn and so much that hasn’t been unpacked. We’ve looked at how our homeostasis can be improved by focusing on certain senses and yet there are other senses that we still haven’t explored much, if at all, such as taste, pain, direction, speed, temperature and time – and intuition!

And then there our brain’s reward system: how dopamine, oxytocins and endorphins impact our lives. How additions form. Then there’s the autonomic ladder put forward by Deb Dana. And all the while our own DNA is just waiting to be explored in the form of epigenetics. Yet in the meantime would it be worth reflecting on anything you learnt during this month and consider if there are areas of knowledge you might want to follow up on?
