Smell

Essential oils can either be used as a diffuser, inhaled via a tissue or cloth, diluted in bath water, or mixed with massage oil and rubbed directly onto the skin. The results can produce different effects on our mental state depending on what type of flowers, seed and roots are used. For example, lemon is considered to be uplifting and energising, while ginger is associated with the digestive system. Lavender can help people sleep, and eucalyptus is linked to our respiratory system. Essential oils can also assist with muscular aches and pains.
