Part 8 - Questions about coping

Q: How would you describe your general state of mind at present?
Q: Over the past three months, how stressed have you been compared to the previous three months?
Q: How important is it for you to be in control of things?
Q: How important to your well-being is having a relatively tidy environment?
Q: On a continuum between being tidy and being cluttered, where would you put yourself?

Q: On a continuum between being organised and disorganised where would you put yourself?

Q: If one of your places of being (e.g. home/office/college) starts to become a hostile environment, do you have another place to go to de-stress?
Q: Do holidays relax you or make you tense?
Q: How good are you at switching off?
What questions would be important to ask yourself at this moment in time? Do you have the beginnings of an answer?

You are now invited to plot your own coping strategies into the four quadrants of the compass. Once you have done this, have a look to see if your methods of coping are evenly spread out or whether you would benefit from targeting a certain quadrant with more strategies.

Try to be as honest with yourself as you can when plotting this compass. Once you have done the exercise, have a look to see if you’re okay with how it looks or whether you would like to change it in some way.
