The power of vulnerability

If you want a meaningful relationship with someone, you have to step forward, out of your comfort zone, into a place that makes you exposed and vulnerable. The same goes for the person you are engaging with.

What do you make of this idea? Does it ring true for you?

Brené Brown, a writer and research professor known for her challenging notes on the subject of relationships, adds her own thoughts below:

“Through my research, I found that vulnerability is the glue that holds relationships together. It’s the magic sauce.”

“Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable.”

If you are already too exposed to be vulnerable, where might this leave you? Do you think you can make tiny steps, tiny inroads into relationships, or does it have to be all or nothing?
